|

The National
Book Store Foundation, Inc., together with celebrity actor Diether Ocampo
and Pizza Hut recently treated 100 schoolchildren from Tagapo Elementary
School in Laguna to a day of reading fun during the Book It Buklat Aklat
(BIBA) Leave Behind Library turnover.

Ocampo read
“Bilog na Itlog” by Al Santos and Josefina Sanchez to the delight of the
first grade kids. “Reading will open a lot doors and help kids realize their
dreams,” Ocampo said. “Having experienced hardships when I was growing up, I
wanted to share all the blessings that I have been receiving by giving
children the tools to improve their condition in life.”

On the other
hand, National Book Store Foundation Chairman Trina Alindogan says: “Reading
and education are really the keys to a brighter future for kids. We have to
encourage the kids to read and we have to do what we can to get them a
better education. Every little bit helps.”

In addition
to the library, the students from Tagapo also received school supplies from
the National Book Store Foundation’s Project Aral drive which gathered study
kits from loyal National Book Store patrons. |

BIBA, a
collaborative effort of the two companies, aims to increase reading interest
among public school children by helping schools and communities furnish and
refurbish their libraries. |
